Baby Blossoms Collaborative
Mission
Eliminate Factors that contribute to health disparities through efforts to strengthen the community capacity by:
- Identifying the contributing factors that lead to racial, geographic and economic disparities
- Reducing overall feto-infant mortality
- Building on the strengths of our community
Partners
The BBC is comprised of 35+ maternal child health partner agencies and small businesses. Membership is increasing as agencies learn about the numerous opportunities the BBC has to offer in providing education, promoting health and initiating environmental change within the community.
Accomplishments
The BBC has designed and implemented several initiatives since its inception in 1999. A Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) process was implemented to assist the collaborative in identifying and resolving community issues contributing to poor reproductive outcomes and poor infant health. After identifying primary risk factors affecting infant mortality locally through Perinatal Periods of Risk (PPOR) analysis and the FIMR process, the BBC developed three specific interventions to address some of the contributing factors.
